I can say from experience, if they were trying for party albums they failed miserably. I vividly remember putting on Discotheque at a party in college and the entire dance floor cleared out. It was traumatizing because I actually liked Pop.

While I can't fault the logic behind disliking Discotheque and Pop, I can't really agree with what's being said about Achtung Baby. I think that's one of their most important albums, not the marking of a "fun, party band" (How can any album with One on it be called a party album?).
