ILU so much for the vas deferens joke. So much.
Now I’m curious—is there more DNA in men’s urine? And is it merely a large difference or a VAS DEFERENS?
Also ungreyed! Woot! Go us!
I’ve been thinking the same thing. Maybe the difference is on Loveline he was talking to people with problems and giving them specific advice, versus now when he’s talking about people, speculating on what could be wrong and giving hypothetical advice.
Why are we still pretending to listen to this man? Isn’t he essentially what Dr. Phil is to psychology and Dr. Oz is to GP? Like, sure, at one point they were real people who did real things to help people, but now they’re just cheap hacks desperate to turn as many tricks as possible to make that sweet, sweet…
I liked Dr. Drew so much in the 90s, based mostly on listening to Loveline late at night driving to and from college. I have been more and more appalled at him ever since. Beyond promoting conspiracy theories, he’s been peddling the worst kind of junk pop medicine for years. He’s dangerous in much the same way as Dr.…
Better a dipshit than a rapist
Right? It’d be fascinating if it wasn’t so horrifying.
Fair point - I wouldn’t begin to think a single diagnosis could contain everything that’s going on with that guy, anyway. Plus I was kind of starting to feel some empathy with him, and now I don’t have to! :)
He has to capitalize on that rarely-tapped “People who Hate Firefighters” demographic.
I have diagnosed OCD, and I do see SOME similarities. But some of the compulsive behaviors can cross over into other diagnoses. Notice how they all concern him? Like, many of us do weird things because we convince ourselves not doing so will hurt others, or obsess over how our compulsions hurt others. He’s entirely…
mike pence’s whole life is one long GOB “I’ve made a huge mistake” face
“I love Hispanics. I love Hispanics,” Trump said to the audience. “Actually, I was kidding, you can get those Mexicans out of here.”
I’m surprised because, for one shining moment, he didn’t have the smallest hands in the room.
“When daycares send their infants, they’re not sending their best. They’re bringing colic. They’re bringing germs. They’re poopy. And some, I assume, are good babies.”
You have no idea what you are talking about. Zero. And you sound like a complete and utter moron, blathering on about what you would do if you were raped.
Ah the glorious 90s! I’m gonna bust out my flannel shirts and grunge it up. No heroin this time around though!
Really good article. You mention David Foster Wallace, and your bits on the usefuleness of AA’s cliches remind me of him expressing the exact same sentiment in Infinite Jest, where he writes something along the lines that the more vapid the cliche, the sharper the insight and the more it “ends up masking something…
It’s viscerally embarrassing to read. I suddenly feel ashamed of all the obviously, transparently performative emails I’ve written to smart boys in a desperate bid to get laid.
