She was first pick for the role Robbie ended up with. If I remember, Stewart said she was done with movies that glamourized such a huge age gap between romantic leads and didn't care for the part itself much.

Yep! Unfortunately it's apparently only a feat. part. She was on set for like a day. Here's hoping she's number 9's big bad and she's in 8 for the dramatic set up.

He was apparently a real pain in the behind about it.
He was contracted to do another movie for Universal after he did Fight Club and kept turning down all the scripts they sent. He finally agreed on Italian Job but felt it was all very beneath him.
Word is he grew that terrible mustache for the film out of spite and he

He turned down the lead role in The Matrix to make Wild Wild West too.

I'm very glad my girl Kristen Stewart dodged Focus. Apparently she thought it was gross and turned down the role.

On paper it must have looked like an attractive prospect, because they managed to trick Tom Hardy and Jared Leto into thinking it would be Nolan-tier good too. Smith wanted a foot back in the door of action film and what better way than to be the lead in an ensemble supervillain movie. I guess the creative team should

That poor child.

Completely sincere up vote

Lol

Someone please help Jennifer Garner.

I'm so done with self serious action movies like this. If you're going to be ridiculous, at least have the decency to be fun. This franchise already wasted giant robot dinosaurs, it can take that forced melodrama far far away.

They have me. I'm in. That was definitely one of the best trailers I've seen for ages and whoever put that together needs to be winning some awards. This franchise is the primary reason IMAX should exist.

I love how sincere it is. I don't get the impression that every scene, 'plot point', and character has been carefully formulated for maximum marketing potential by a board of executives. It's a franchise that seems chiefly concerned with ensuring its audience has the maximum amount of fun possible.
And it looks to be

A lot of the time I agree, but not with Suicide Squad. There was no enjoyment for me to eke from that 'movie', accept maybe relief that Tom Hardy wasn't involved in the end.

I can't decide if my "Worst" movie would be one that left no impression on me or one that left a negetive impression on me.
Because Independance Day: Resurgence was soggy toast. It was nothing. It was terrible, but I couldn't hate it because it didn't seem to be trying.
Suicide Squad, on the other hand, it was trying -

He's a pretty smooth singer, yeah. Guy has some charming pipes on him.

I love knowing this!

This is what I mean about how he must be much cooler in real life. There's a big list of super kind and awesome actors who seem to be buds with him and keep working with him.
I mean he does do a lot of charity work…? He built a cat sanctuary and named it after his mum…? But he also made Ted 2 soooo…

Still confused that Mila Kunis is deigning to continuing voice acting for him.
McFarlane routinely convincing far-too-famous actors to be involved with all his projects, and also apparently being good friends irl with most of them. All that while possessing the nation's second most punchable face!

McFalane seems to have a lot of very smart, cool, A-list female actress friends. I can only guess he's less annoying when you know him in real life?
