I still remember in the Phoenix area that some guy received a photo ticket going well over 140mph in one. A Hyundai rep was cautiously impressed with that number.

Really Patrick? I do not give a wit how nice the GTI feels/drives. But coming from the land of peak Camry reliability, you steer him to a brand that he will know the service department intimately.

I bought one ( 2007 fwd/auto) for my college age kids. It has the best of both worlds (Toyota engineering and inexpensive part replacement). It also is surprisingly versatile. It has the footprint of a Corolla but the interior space and usability of a small wagon. It is reliable and vehicle that they can grow into

The 3rd door handle on any late 1990's to early 2000's S10/Sonoma. It was literally designed to fail. In fact, there is/was quite a hefty marketplace for a proper aluminium replacement handle on eBay. Same goes for the interior components with the rejected molds from Fisher Price. Absolutely maddening that a truck

I agree on almost all points. I will say that the redesigned interiors of the Caliber, Sebring, Patriot/Compass twins was pretty impressive considering when the models first came to the market. I have rented a Caliber with the CVT (awful) and driven a friend’s manual Caliber (surprisingly enjoyable). I rented a 2016

So the second picture shows a Lemon Law buyback. Is that a good thing?

I was a LEO from 2002 -2006. I had just calibrated my rear facing Radar (about 0300hrs on a slow Sunday night). At that time, I hear a shrill as my Radar lights up “ERR” on the screen (meaning that the oncoming vehicle has pasted the 150mph threshold of my Radar gun). I see what looks like 2 Tron cycle streaks blow

I bought my kids a 2007 Vibe (black/fwd) and it is terrific. I also feel it is the perfect first car. Corolla underpinnings with a hatch. As a side note, I took it to get an oil change at a local Jiffy Lube (normally I would do it myself but it was damn cold) and they had all the previous services done by the prior

Crack Pipe for sure!!! But I am not going to say it to his face.

Gotcha. It appears to be a bit of a bully tactic.

Zoe said no? Damn if that is the case, a professional stunt woman walking away from a seemingly simple scene should be a huge red flag that something was amiss.

I read this and the NY Times article. I am generally mystified at why Tarantino insisted on her driving the car. This is especially troubling since Thurman had reservations about the car’s condition and/or her ability to drive it at speed safely in its condition. Unfortunately the proof is in the pudding, as her

I just saw one the other week (central Maryland). The owner had slightly wider powder coated steelies on it and mildly lowered (maybe 1/2 inch tops). I wasn’t sure what it was and he was gone before I could him at a light. Neat car

I agree. I bought one when they first came out and was on a 3 week waiting list to get one. The First year Neon came out of the gate strong. It had more power than its rivals and a forward thinking exterior design that shamed contrasted with the staid design of its rivals.

Tom,

Agreed, the lady in question is easily into her 70's. I’m one state south and share the the seasons/brine/salt that typically eat these cars into oblivion. I had a begrudging amount of respect to see one of these on the road.

There is an older neighbor who still drives one of these daily. It is in surprisingly good shape.

First Gen Pontiac Vibe/Toyota Matrix twins. They share a Corolla drive train with quasi-wagon styling and made in the famous NUMMI plant. Reliable, easy/cheap parts, room for kids when they go to college and beyond. Did I mention Corolla underpinnings? These will survive a beating and go on.

Sorry for the double post. Stock image on my most normal car. Over 103k mileage with zero reliability issues. Slow as dirt, more efficient than EPA ratings (without crazy hyper-miling techniques). I replaced my stock steel wheels with takeoff MINI Imola alloys (same tire size, hub diameter, bore spacing as the Honda.

I’m south of the Baltimore area. This may violate my no VAG edict. I had a neighbor but a new Corrado (G60/black) and always loved the looks of the car.
