Hatchbacks/UVs have all the same faults, combined with worse handling from their higher ride height, less usable space (legally as the area above the rear seat cannot be counted as cargo area), and generally worse mileage.

How exactly does a sedan waste interior space compared to a hatchback or UV?

I would say it’s a combo of that and the lack of visibility out of most modern vehicles.
