And those little 4 cyl Japanese trucks will get 30mpg, again, while being 1/2 the size.

Save yourself a lot of hassle. The 3.0 V6 came in those trucks and is capable of 500+whp on stock internals.
Mileage?
It gets the same mileage, from a car the same size, yet it has 15yrs of added tech and 2 extra gears. It’s fucking pitiful at best.
I’ve owned numerous 3800 powered cars, the worst mileage I ever got was 28mpg, in mixed driving with a Supercharged 3800. That engine also happens to make 20ft-lbs more torque than the 3.6. It’s also lacks 2 gears and 15yrs of tech.
I thought race gas was supposed to make more power??????
The current 4 cylinder makes less HP, far less torque, and gets the same real world mileage as the 3800s.
Cool story bro.
Reason the V6 Impala gets worse mileage than the 4cyl:
You clearly haven’t been driving cars and checking real world mileage for the last 20 some years..........
If your vehicle has plenty of low end torque, you can start in 2nd without slipping the clutch.
Drove all the way through Madison, from downtown to 51 using only 3rd gear.
By burning more fuel?
That explains why cars like the old Lesabres with 3800s could easily crack off 30mpg 20yrs ago, yet the same size/weight car today with a smaller turbo 4 can only manage low 20s.........
Vehicle designed before ethanol experience worse mileage, less power, and a whole host of other fuel systems issues from ethanol gas.
Economy has only increased in EPA tests. In real world use, smaller overtaxed engines get worse mileage.
Sorry, had a vehicle that needed lead additive as my daily driver.
Or they can just leave it priced high and make major bank as people now have no other option......
