There’s been a few articles on here about it. Basically Ford never tested the car to go any faster so they locked it to that speed.

This is a fun theory. I wonder how many people start using adblock once the site switches to autoplay ads. If you can prove it, that’s the only argument that would work against the Gawker overlords.

Buy used and keep it for a decade and you’re really doing well.

Wouldn’t the cheaper way be to buy 1-2 years old and keep it the same length of time? Depreciation is a bear those first few years but most people don’t even use up 20% of the reliable life.

Yep, this. One of the cheapest ways to own a car is to buy new and keep it for a decade or more, as long as it’s reliable. And the most expensive is to buy new and trade it in every year or two, ensuring that you lose as much money as possible.

Seems to be very traction limited to only run an 11.3 in the 1/4 with that much power. For comparison the new 911S has been running 11.2's with “only” 443hp.

VW is totally going after everyone’s environmental bona fides. That’s why they’re pushing EVs like crazy. Yes, this came about because they got whacked for Dieselgate, but it’s happening.

VW isn’t going to go after anyone’s environmental bonafides.

The GT500 still has the bones of a Mustang. This means that the platform has the cost limitations of a $26,000 car, but with the requirement to handle well over twice the power.

I mean, it seems like that goes both ways, no?

Almost no customers will actually notice.

Marketing and lobbying are different departments, you know?

1st: There’s actually a very cogent argument to be made in favor of one unified standard, and I’m glad that GM, Toyota, et al are making it. Realistically, increased economy standards without corresponding gas tax increases are subsidizing people to live further afield. That drives massive suburban sprawl, egregious

First Gear:

Subaru to me is the biggest surprise on that list considering how eco and naturey they portray themselves.

Which side is the “wrong” side here?

4200# Wow. I’ve been harsh on the ZL-1.

Is it big and heavy in the same way the Hellcats are? Those seen like pretty much GT cars that do burnouts in every gear. Does this feel more specifically sporty oriented than that? Or is it on the same “your probably not going to wring it out on a track with corners so we aren’t going to try to hard with the

Personally, to me, Dieselgate was not a big issue as the media turned it into. I know cheating isn’t right in any case, but being in the industry, the cheating always existed on many different levels. Another word for cheating nowadays is “Cost-cutting.” If you really need a fun commuter that will be reliable, make
