This is absurd. If I set my cruise control and don’t steer the car for six seconds and crash, I’m not going after the maker of my car. I’m stupid for doing that.

I remember seeing a mockup of something like this inside the exit of Test Track at EPCOT (Disney), back when it was a real ride about road testing and had a GM showroom at the end instead of a cheesy light show. Very exciting technology, but not much happening with it anymore. This was when Tesla only had the Roadster…
I’ve always been a big fan of british roadsters and the Jensen Healey is one of my favorites... I’ve never owned one though because I’m terrified of the upkeep costs, and it doesn’t help that they keep getting older and older and older.
That’s both exciting and terrifying at the same time. I can deal with the risk of being in a car accident as the above stories, but people threatening you is much more frightening (to me at least).
Get the Cayman, do it, one of us, one of us! #nosubstitute and all that
Hey, the 986 and 996 generations are the ones that are the real problem. I would stick to the latest 987 gen boxster you can afford... I have an ‘08 Cayman, one of the newest before they switched to the 9A1 engine which has no IMS. If you can afford the price jump to 9A1 it’s good for peace of mind, and a little more…
NP. I just bought one of these a few months ago, but I opted for a little less mileage and a more exciting color combo than black/black... partly out of necessity living in Florida (b/b will kill you in the summer).
Absolutely agreed. The little 1.5L motor in the CRZ is good for 112hp alone, if it stripped out the electric motor it’d probably weigh 2400-2500 lbs and be a great little car in the same spirit as the CRX. Honda hatch fans just didn’t want a heavy hybrid... and that’s why it was only available for one generation and…
I wish you were wrong, but I know you are correct. If the MR2 ever came back, I could see it with a CVT and front engined... “good enough,” says Toyota, wondering why people are only buying crossovers with no history or meaning while simultaneously ignoring history and meaning when recreating heritage-based models…
I too specifically wanted a mid-engined vehicle and I settled on the Porsche 987 Cayman. It’s a beautiful car, and fit nicely within my budget... if you had more to spend, you could look at the 987.2 or 981 Caymans and those are even better.
That is really a shame, I wanted a CR-Z for a while because it’s just such an interesting car.... and I don’t really like hybrids. Pretty sure my local dealership still has a few of them as well
I was just looking at those sales statistics for a work project and I noticed the Xterra and VW EOS only sold one unit in 2017. I wonder though, if those models were discontinued and there was only one left for sale new... the information I’d really like to see is “total delivered to dealer lots,” and maybe “total…
Does the fuel shark work underwater? (I know, deadhorse.gif)
I think you notice Hondas and Toyotas because they are top sellers and they last a while, so even older ones stay on the road. Therefore your “common man” is statistically likely to drive one, and usually the “common man” is not a very good driver.
It’s still pretty cringy though, even if only for the emoji, text, and arrow - I’m just imagining how full of themselves the owner of that car is
That makes sense. By the end there they were really discounting them, I know the Aveo was also heavily discounted from sticker when my parents bought it too.
I’ve spent some time in Hawaii and there is also an attitude that some have there... basically, native Hawaiians own everything on the island and anyone else doesn’t deserve to be there at all.
Maybe my memory is a little hazy, but I remember my parents looking at Cobalts in ‘08 ‘09 and they were all right around $20k, or just under. Definitely not $12k, which is why they bought an Aveo instead (despite my warnings)
$36K for a 95 NSX with low mileage right now doesn’t scream “deal” to me, it screams “scam” or “huge accident history.”
If you can pull off a 2018 Mustang GT outright, just buy one with a replacement clutch cost in mind and learn. I bought my first manual car at 27 after never learning in the past, just like you. I watched some youtube videos and played DiRT Rally with 3-pedals for a week before I picked it up haha, not quite the same…
