I remember seing a science show when I was a kid where they ground up green leaves and processed them in a way that the different colors separated out into lines. Kind of like a DNA test for autumn.

I am ashamed to say I didn't make it through the book. The imagery was epic and the language Gibson uses was, simply put, beautiful, but that was not enough to keep me going and I never felt the hook to keep turning the pages.
