Jalops: “We want a practical driver’s car!”

That's over twice the speed limit. I also live in Reston. If anyone near Reston is doing 132, when the max limit around here is 55, fuck them and fuck you. You needed to be off the road. (No comment on having a gun drawn on you for it, though.)

The point about looking out for hiding spots is really important. If it looks like a blind curve or somewhere you can stash a car, you'll eventually find a cop there. In NoVa, at least.

That's a rural and small town thing. I'm wary of small-town cops since I'm not sure they have anything better to do than nail your ass.

I personally don't decry the decline of analog cars or long division. It seems to just be a part of progress. Not doing long division leaves more time to actually apply division to a task. In the U.S., modern cars make the drudgery of daily driving more comfortable.

Personally, I drive an LS-swapped Model T. My superior driving skills make all modern technology unnecessary.

This. The Challenger is a cruiser with no pretensions of being a track day star.

I really like the Challenger (even if I would never own one.) It's just a big car with a big engine. It's always seemed to be spiritually closer to classic muscle cars than the Mustang or Camaro, which are trying to do a balancing act between muscle car and sports car.

I don't think much has changed. It seems like the performance models of the lower range cars have hovered between 40 and 50k for a long time.

I actually prefer (as an idea; I haven't owned one yet) the pop-up screens. It leaves more usable space for physical buttons and storage space on the dashboard.

Though with the options I want, it's actually not that bad...

FRS/BRZ. But as non-owners will tell you, they are terrible, slow, pretentious shitboxes.

I disagree. I think everyone in Northern Virginia should take 36-month leases on manual M235s. In blue, please.

Car enthusiasts say they want light cars, then essentially cry like babies when they realize that it means that they might be subjected to road noise or paying for more aluminum.

Bland can be good, if it's at least handsome. Fast car without all of the ostentatious boy-racer crap - perfect.

What if they had hit a pedestrian? What if they had lost control? Why is this macho bullshit worth that much potential loss? I don't get it.

Zimmerman is the not-so-secret fantasy of all the bored white men who wish their life were more awesome.

Yeah, being physically safe definitely less important than making sure you're not a "victim."

Take the plates, call the cops and file an insurance claim like a goddamn adult.

Putting other people in danger for your replaceable shit - definitely a grey area.
