Fuck off, Samantha.

Doesn’t the Royal family bring in big bucks to England from the tourism? How much would England lose in tourism dollars every year if the Royals were no longer? Is that even a calculable number?

“Also the Queen actually lives and supported by a trust and the investments and building that she owns not tax dollars. Yes taxes cover repairs to public buildings because the government owns them. However the Queen is only tangentially involved in what repairs are needed. Not to mention that much of what is being

I’ve been screaming about this for years. The tourism argument is 100% bullshit, especially when you consider the Royal family isn't even THERE during the tourist season when tourists are allegedly there to "see" them.

There are no tax dollars in the UK. We use good UK pounds.

There’s always some idiot waiting to pile on Her Majesty at this time of year. Most of those items are antiques passed down from other monarchs and part of our nation’s history - what else should we do with the gold piano, flog it to a super-rich Russian for their kids to flaunt on insta?

I am an Italian American. Every holiday is an eating holiday.

Um, Christmas is very much a food centered holiday! At least in Britain and Australia. It’s all about turkey, gravy, roast veggies, pudding, custard etc. and here because it’s summer we have prawns and oysters and ham and salads! Despite it being routinely 30 odd degrees centigrade (I think 90ish Fahrenheit)we insist

This is a Bad Take.

Icke is absolutely trash, and this merits accusations of anti-Semitism, and I say that as someone regularly slandered by unethical “pro-Israel” hardliners due to my stance on Israeli policies. She crossed the line, and I’m not letting her hide her bigotry behind a dishonest appeal to concern for Palestinians.

Don’t know of David Icke’s work and i’m not interested.

My god, the Queen’s face just skipped a couple of generations and landed straight on Charlotte, didn’t it?  How weird that her great-grandchild looks far more like her than any of her children do.

That Will and Kate family photo is absolute - and I mean absolute - Peak Whiteness.

Maybe. But think the Queen’s choice of vehicle is rooted in the realities of rural life (which she is definitely into) rather than the other way around.

I think she has a lot to do with their original popularity, but I don’t think she has much influence on the popularity of 1960s models with current 20-30 year olds.

I’m not denying any of that. Not everybody that drives one is upper class or indeed a nitwit, though. They’re indestructible, fun, and very good for putting dogs in, towing horse boxes and general mud based rural activities. They also look brilliant.

Sorry but no. The clapped out Defender-love has nothing to do with the Queen.

Old Defenders are a thing among the moneyed landed set, with bonus points for the family being the original owner and it having the original paint job. See that Game of Thrones actor wedding for this in action.

Oh absolutely! She was an auto mechanic in WWII and I read somewhere that she prefers driving something she still knows how to fix. I doubt if that’s true but I have chosen to subscribe to this anecdote.
