I agree with this. I've always assumed Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson were trying to capture certain sounds so they do sound like other bands, but can do it without copying. That was the rumor for our free health center condoms in college, but they weren't actually as effective as if you just went and bought the same brand because they were more often than not expired.
