Locally, My earliest memory is the Hyatt Regency hotel collapse in Kansas City. My aunt & uncle were there that night & had to help a lot of people. I can still remember some of the horrible details from the stories they told my mom.

I vaguely remember the Iran hostage crisis. I think it stuck in my head because I heard my parents talking about it & thought it must be kind of important because, for the most part, they barely ever spoke to each other.

My 74 yr old mom always does this. Otherwise she loses it or can't hear it.
