I wrote a lengthy response to another poster criticizing her decision that I won’t repeat here, but traumatic experiences are much more complex than that single command would imply.

When Meg was shot in July the distrust of the LAPD was at an all time high and the mood in this city was HEATED. For months all you saw on TV were the cops go after protesters and attack them like they were all criminals. I don’t blame her one bit, they could have treated her as an accomplice or accessory to a crime…

With everything that we know about the criminal (in)justice system in America, I don’t think it’s fair to judge any black person who is skeptical of cooperating with authorities (especially police).
