Airplane mode has nothing to do with safety of the aircraft. It's merely to keep the passenger's attention.

If only reality was so tame in the world that was in the times depicted in the books. I totally understand that this is fiction but it has an audience, just like the ISIL beheading videos are gruesome but people can’t stop consuming them, this show is just the same. Again, non-fictional events are way more grotesque…

Maybe we should also censor the world. In the real world this happens on a daily basis. Just remember nothing in this fictional world comes close to events that happen in the real world.
