This show has a bunch of really mixed messages about racism. Kara is still pretty racist (or would that be "speciesest?") about Daximites. And J'onn turning evil from being exposed to white martian blood seems to be saying something about miscegenation that seems distinctly… horrifying.

It just seems incredibly silly. I mean she's less than twelve feet away while they are talking.

Can someone explain to me how Jimmy and Winn could have a private conversation about Kara… when she is in the same room… without her overhearing?

How is it possible to have a conversation about Supergirl that she doesn't overhear…. when she is in the same room?

When you are that odious of a human being, giving people free shit is how you make and keep friends.

Well, Emily Gilmore's world is very, very white. And that's part of the point.

Michel is from Paris. His mother visited him in one episode. And both of them seemed pretty upper-class Parisian to me. Which I think supreceeds his race in all of his interactions. His nationality is intense, to both the viewers or the people who live in his very small town, that it overrides his race.

Berta was played by Rose Abadoo, who I assume was told to improvise the language and included Spanish aspects to it because she speaks Spanish. And it really is a commentary on Emily, as opposed to one on Berta, that she literally does not know how to speak to her maid (textualizing the theme about the fact that Emily

Once she was outside of her mother's direct control, she could be more easily seduced by the wealth Lorelai gave up. Rory, having grown up poor/middle class, doesn't really understand all the negatives associated with the world her grandparents live in. And though Logan (and her grandparents) is seduced into it.

The show is entirely about class issues. It is the principal foundation of the show. One of the major conceits of the show is that Lorelai worked her way up from being unemployed and homeless to the general manager of a highly expensive hotel, and yet her parents consider that beneath her. Richard and Emily look down

I'd only be willing to marry Logan if he agreed to no prenup.

Well, in 10 years her biggest accomplishment was a puff piece. So yeah, I don't think she has what it takes.Could you honestly see Rory doing what David Fahrenthold did this past election and pouring over the minutia of financial details to find irregularities?

When people die, you feel complex feelings about it, because your relationships were complex. The people who you only have positive feelings towards are likely people you aren't particularly close to. Lorelai has good and bad memories of her father, and jumbled in an alcohol induced haze probably said two things that

Dubya in 2000. That giant mess pretty made people's minds that Florida was a cesspool of idiots.

The first Bush election. That was when people decided Florida's population were idiots.

So are you shipping Rory and Jess?

At first I thought the play was going on too long. But I became sold on it eventually. I certainly liked it more than revisiting the UGH Life and Death Brigade.

Well, I mean that's the entire purpose of it. And then you can move on to Superman, and then to Justice League and/or Batman Beyond.

I like how it doesn't sell H&M in any way.

Have you shown him Batman the Animated Series?
