It helps that she has been unshackled from the British wet blanket, but it seems she ends up as kind of the straight man too often these days.

So torn here. The show is abysmal, and not just for the reasons bemoaned in the other AV Club strictly posted today. I mean, it's just terrible. But the comments section is so fun. I wonder if they are as enjoyable to visit without watching the show.
See, Fox is such a wild card here. The show still fetches a pretty decent fee for ads, and one would think it's deal with Netflix (and the already sold syndication rights to TBS and MTV) would make Fox want to jump at a fifth season. But…. Fox.
See, i had my Boomhauer ear-goggles on. I heard "dang-old".
When Winston taunted Cece about liking Schmidt a second time, I laughed. This must actually be like the 6th or 7th time we've gone down this road, right?
I think Winston was trying to break the tension, but choose a rather laughably inappropriate topic.
Maybe he didn't know? Don't think anyone other than Jess even shared the screen with him. Maybe Nick did for a split second?
Yeah, these guest spots have shelf lives, and this isn't the first show to abruptly send one packing, but this was pretty weak. I don't so much have a problem with him taking his apparent dream job (I mean, with such little back story to go on here, we sort off have to take this as fact), and even last episode I…
I didn't mind the way Kai went out, just would've liked to have seen more of her before. Ryan leaving off screen required a pretty hefty 180 in character. From ideal guy to total dick? Happened awful quick.
They sure packed a whole lot of 'not funny' into one little British guy.
Cece limbo-ing in front of the handsome fireman was fantastic. So was Jess' dejected admission that her father wanted a boy. Or rather, her slumping off screen into the credits just after.
Yeah, this whole Jess/Ryan arc has basically just made me care less about Jess. Zooey still gets her laughs, but there is simply no weight to her anymore. Ryan is clearly on the way out, but why should we worry? She can just fall in love with whoever the next guy is inside of 3 episodes. She does that now.
How long ago was Ronin? Or is it long enough that maybe I only think I recall a good care chase? That remake out The Italian Job has those Minis through the house. That was… cute. The first Bourne, maybe? Kind of proving your point…
Winston Bishop is a cold open killer. There should never be one without him.
Am I the only one that thought most of Happy Endings' final season was pretty sub par? After watching the ups and downs of Marry Me, I'm sort of okay to let it rest in peace.
I guess that's because we go into TV expecting theatrics. Truth is, I've had more relationships end due to things just not jiving than for 'real' reasons. They wanted different things. Kai is financially set and wants to hang 24/7. Something that should've suited the old Nick Miller just fine. But not now. Now…
I can see it: Deschanel on set, filming a scene. Out of nowhere, she calls cut herself. She turns to the director and, regardless of content or script, exclaims: Bring me my British Boy! I proclaim it so!
The show certainly picked the wrong horse to ride here. Kai brought more funny in her scant screentime than Ryan has with his extended, laborious attempts to scrape up laughs.
Nah, Winston's 'upset' face was the true line of the night.
Can't help but wonder the genesis of the honey/sweetie stuff. Is Nick that protective of Schmidt's ego? Is this a habit formed from past occasion?
