She witnessed Jess' enthusiasm up close and at a very young age, and was perhaps the first to be put off by it. That was the point I reckon.

Dammit. Had a feeling.
I know it's been noted how quickly Jack Bauer would have this shit wrapped up, but I'm pretty sure a squad comprised solely of Detective Boyle from Brooklyn Nine Nine would fair better than this sorry crew.
I think I caught something I actually laughed at. I wasn't half paying any attention, but there was a scene where Bacon walks by some guys and makes a seemingly random comment about their cool shoes. I was concerned there would actually be some context to the statement that would ruin it, so I went back to not…
I've always thought Fox should rotate half hours shows between football and The Simpsons on Sundays to get exposure for them. My guess is we'll just get more Gordon Ramsey.
Sadly, I think the wake of The Big Bang Theory is so strong, CBS could just air commercials for the 90 minutes following and still get mid ones in the demo. Fox really should find some way to capitalize on American Idol's lead in. Even the "established" comedies like New Girl and Brooklyn Nine Nine are struggling in…
Yeah, I'll be cleaning out my DVR a few days after airing and have to ask myself 'did I watch this one?" The answer is usually yes, but I just don't find anything memorable about the recent episodes. I think part of it is I don't really like the Shay's without Ryan, and I don't care to watch them. Still far from a…
Well, I can't tell you not to choose to be literal about things. To me his statement is more "I didn't know it at the time, but if I'm honest with myself now, it goes all the way back to the beginning' type thing. It seemed clear Nick had feelings for Jess from the start. Does't mean they didn't change and they…
You're not likely to get Jess in many B-plots. She took a backseat in Double Date and for most of Thanksgiving, so that may be it for the year. And I've liked the little glimpses of normalcy we've seen this season. Nick giving her (admittedly less than stellar) advice on how to be cool, the pair cooing at each…
I like Schmidt, and he's not actually a cliché, but if one was going to label Caroline merely as a 'crazy ex' cliché when there is clearly going on there, I would expect them to do the same of Schmidt.
It also wasn't really a downvote, but I guess I could've made that a little more clear. Either way, gone now.
Fluffer was the episode, one of the best of the series. Nick and Jess admit they'd thought about each other in that way, but that they both didn't want to risk their friendship by acting on those urges. And Jess' boyfriend (Sam) at the time was being portrayed as a Creed loving, fast food on a date kind of douche,…
Hate to go all 'matter off fact' about things (because, oy, that's embarrassing) but Nick never says he's against Jess moving in. Coach says no, Schmidt says yes, and Nick doesn't give his opinion before Schmidt makes an executive decision. And the Cece Crashes stuff doesn't prove Jess is wrong because Nick wasn't…
That scenario actually would've made the eventual Cece/Schmidt reconciliation more acceptable. I'd really like to see them just remain friends at this point because I'm not sure the writers will be able to resist at least one (and it can only be one) Nick/Jess split. I definitely don't need to see it happen, but the…
I dunno. He does ditch Caroline (who he was devastated about for months) in the pilot just as she's offered to get a drink with him. He chooses instead to literally run to Jess' side. We know he designed the 'No Nail Oath' when Coach was still living there, and we know Coach only lived with Jess for two weeks. …
Wait, Winston and Jess aren't friends? Schmidt and Jess aren't friends? Because, I kind of think New Girl says yes, they are.
One of the ways the show really did misstep, I think. They had two opportunities to have Schmidt just let her go (accepting her bracelet in Santa and seemingly seeing the light at the end of Bachelorette Party) that would've been a lovely way to let it rest for a good, long time.
See, I guess I just wasn't a huge fan of the early stuff. I liked Wedding a lot, but it wasn't until Landlord/Injury/Fancyman episodes that I found myself truly enjoying the series.
Downvote for even bothering with the EW play by play first. Your content, however, is legit
.
It'd be one think if I could think of a single comedy that couldn't be roundly criticized for being 'tropey' or 'cliche'. I dunno. Prob have to go back to Arrested Development or something so tonally over the top like late 30 Rock.
