I would say last spring the show showed great promise. I can't say I've enjoyed it much this season, though, and Mindy and Dads are not doing 99/New Girl any favors.

I know the ratings may have been tough to swallow, but I really liked Ben and Kate, too.

Impossible to ever 'give up' on this show, but it's kind of been a near miss for the better part of an entire season now. Still not a terrible way to spend 25 minutes, I guess.

Wait a second. Didn't Jenny break a cardinal rule of the show by seeming slightly concerned that Andre was being forced to leave the country? There goes my theory that this is really just one long Twilight Zone episode about a bunch of people who fucking hate each other unknowingly being stuck in purgatory where

Didn't really take Jess' line that the job was difficult to understand, just that it's not something she has taken the time to learn. After all, while the audience has seen Schmidt at work, he's pretty vague about what he does, generally just letting everyone know he makes good money. Schmidt has made it fairly

Just watching this now. I literally said to my girlfriend 'this guy is horrible' seconds before Mindy echoed the sentiment in regards to Ray-Ron. And for the first time this season, I identified with Mindy.

Little late here, but you are not alone. As imperfect as the show is, it has nuance in most of it's flaws. Terry Crews is clearly not the greatest actor in the world, but he is so phenomenally likable that it hardly matters. Samberg is still finding his balance between what worked so well in small doses on SNL and

My thinking is this should hit reset on Schmidt. And I'm kind of hoping Cece/Coach just end up being a quick fling, which seems reasonable since they're both just coming out of relationships. If it's used as a tool simply to get Schmidt over the hump and break Coach in as a guy with feelings, I can deal with it.

So I see a 'B' grade on the TV Club page. From the review, I would've guessed higher. I'm assuming what's written in the review should speak for itself, but I do appreciate that some of the reviewers here at AV Club seem to grade on their own curve.

For me, just a low BA for laughs. But boy, does it take its swings, which means there are still quite a few. B.

Hmm. I stopped listening to podcasts a while ago, but I sometimes got a kick out of that one. Sadie and The League, right? How was this particular episode ruined? And what movie did it involve?

Believe that was a B99 reference? If not, it's a rather sad coincidence. And my condolences to Tim.

I've always found Deschanel/Greenfield dynamic to just not work as well. It's not bad, by any means, but just not my favorite. I do think it important that they sort of reset the two, though, because they need to move forward as friends. I don't have issue with her slapstick in general (enjoyed her spastic running

To that point, I like the fact that Nick doesn't flinch or judge once he figures out what's up. He thought it was weird (because it was) but he just said 'Good on ya. I'm out.'

I honestly thought Jess cracking him with the door as he prattled on would've been more effective.

After grazing the review and some of the comments, I was expecting to be disappointed. I've never found the Jess/Schmidt one on one stuff exceptional(though their interactions within group scenes are good), but after viewing, I go B+ as well. Solid 88%.

traded the Volvo for it and for Nick's freedom in the premiere. they crossed the border in it. Guessing it belonged to the hotel security guy that arrested Nick.

I genuinely love that I can never guess the letter grade after reading the review. I mean that 100%. Makes me think the reviewer is grading the show only against itself.

Personally never take a pilot to heart. The exposition in an hourly (quasi?) procedural is likely to be heightened in the pilot. The leads are likable enough, and that's half the battle. Maybe even more than half. I'll give it another shot, but it probably won't be a particularly long leash.

I can't tell if the having the early seasons of the show in syndication is a good or bad thing. Bit of both, probably. It's great to see how awesome the show used to (still can?) be, but the degree to which those old episodes stand in contrast to this season and most of last is kind of a bummer.
