Too many to name. I read voraciously. I do think Ira Levin and William Goldman are two of the top writers of horror/suspense if that's the genre you're thinking about.

I don't think I read Daughters of Eve, however, I still have a copy of this, one of my favorite books, on my shelf today!

Wait. Are you serious? You seriously changed my life. I'm a librarian and I push your books on every kid that walks in my branch. Down A Dark Hall is my favorite, I think.

Oh my gosh! Hi!!! Thank you for popping by!

I dunno if that's a fail on your part. In a better world, your pointing out that the parish priest was favoring the boys could have made someone in authority think, "Wait, something's not right there..." and look into it earlier.

My grandmother is Lois Duncan, I just forwarded this article to her, I think she'll get a kick out of it! I grew up reading this, and I always found it to be a wonderful, chilling tale, full of exaggerated characters. You guys have really hit the nail on the head!

I did like that she devoted a page or two to Peter's POV, because that way you don't see him as cardboard villain. Duncan shows that the men in the story are just as trapped and ruined by these stifling gender roles, but that doesn't excuse their often unconscious but constant wielding of power.

I am so sad that I've never read any of these books! What the fuck was I even DOING in middle school that was so important I didn't have time for Daughters of Eve?

oh. My. God. There's a Lois Duncan book I haven't heard of or read, and it sounds like Teen Handmaid's Tale?!?! I can't read the recap, I don't want any spoilers.
