Antivirus trials like McAfee or Norton. The user will go to install an antivirus that they purchased and then have the computer dead lock from conflicting software.

I think the writer here was expressing an idea, not to be taken literally. Obviously if we are supporting a family we couldn't just quit your jobs. The idea is that if you wouldn't do your job for free then you probably should change your career/path.
