I agree, but I live in NY so it is all relative, and the Mexican food here is terrible. It's like a bad version of San Fran Mexican food. Granted these are all Americanized so the term Mexican itself is relative, but I would prefer southern Arizona Mexican food, which is much less reliant on cheese, or the real thing.
