The Edge is based on Fusion rather than the Focus platform, so your results are a bit skewed (but it only reinforces your point!)

It may be that the Sportster is actaully a bit more aero than you think. If it’s chopped you probably sit pretty low and raked back a bit. Sportbikes and standards are very “sit up and beg” so you’re really a giant sail getting pushed through the air. If that Sportster is laid back like that ... it could help it cut…
Efficiency is likely much better than it seems on the surface. Motorcycles generally are pretty inefficient vehicles at speed because they are not very aerodynamic. Sure a scooter will get around 100mpg @ 30mph in the city ... because wind resistance isn’t a large factor. Sure Harely’s could be a bit more aero ... but…
Try riding a motorcycle across it :) (Been there, done that. No t-shirt though)
Yup. Skateboard + Tophat isn’t a new design by any stretch. Really pretty obvious for EVs as well ...
The wife and I kind of have it backwards. We never really went through that early-mid 20's phase where we didn’t enjoy going home for Christmas. Now a decade later there’s just SOOOO much going on. Everyone has kids so it is madness. Family drama is turned up to 11. Then there’s all the amped-up political BS to deal…
All the stars. Was coming here to say the same ... was going to try and work the Bane “I was born in the darkness” angle. Prefer your Princess Bride reference :)
I completely agree. The part I didn’t type apparently was that the machine was the size of a city block because it stamps out tons and tons of door skins / fenders / whatever per hour. Would need a boatload of printers if it took more than a few seconds to make each one to maintain that rate.
If it was viable you can bet that it would already be in place.
All the chimes and stuff were replaced by actual DSO recordings. (DSO = Detroit Symphony Orchestra)
Did you buy a G8 or Chevy SS? A Lincoln LS back in the day?
The difference is a sport bike’s exhaust (unless its a really crappy one) won’t be all that loud just riding around town. Puttering along a 4k RPMs on a sport bike is pretty darned quiet even with a loud exhaust. 10k? Yea it’ll get a whole lot louder :)
It is just plain rude not to offer someone a werther’s original in such a situation!
That’s exactly how I do it. Generally they’ll call either later that day or the next day with something close to what I offered. Not trying to play a game, just offering what I’d pay and that’s that. Don’t like it or won’t come close ... have a nice day.
Very true and a good point. In places I’ve been that have done these types of buyouts if the take rate is too low they’ll cut involuntary. The take rate is never 100%, so no idea what they are targeting/expecting. That said, they have to be ready to accept a high take rate since I’ve heard it is very hard to offer and…
If you’re technically savvy ... look into setting up a PiHole. Basically a network wide ad block that replaces your normal DNS with a RaspberryPi DNS server. Killed the vast majority of ads in all my kiddos devices, not to mention the phones, PCs and video game systems on my network.
Not 1/3 in production line. 1/3 in white collar. Surprising that there is it that much “fat” in a profitable organization.
We were good with 20 miles, but 30 would have been better for sure. Lack of trunk was a bit of a pain, but if we needed more space we just took the truck. That was fairly rare, but it meant any trips involving suitcases were out. Ours had Sync 3 which is much improved from a usability standpoint ... but in general it…
If you’ve got a better idea to reduce a behavior you don’t want other than making said behavior more expensive I’d love to hear it! Personally I’m not a fan either, but it directly affects the behavior we’d like to influence.
Still sell the Fusion Energi its a plugin with a 20 mile range as well. Wife had one for a year and really liked it. Replaced it with a regluar hybrid and she hasn’t been as happy with it (still likes it though, just not as much). The cars exist and have existed ... people just don’t seem to buy them.
