NieR: Automata needs to be on that list!

It’s the same thing. Liquid metal slime is the official translation now.
III is one of my favorite games on any system. I’ve played the first six over the last year and a half, and IMO three holds up well to the rest of the series, and JRPGs in general. I hope they bring the rest eventually (especially V), but this is a great start.
Great article! I love great examples of font design, and to see a great example in a game is even better.
I replayed this game about a year and a half ago for the first time since 1999, and the combat was the thing that I had the hardest time putting up with. The draw system just isn’t good, and I’m glad they abandoned it. It was the crazy, goofy story that kept me engaged enough to finish it again.
I used to think the same thing, until I saw the Infinadeck. Yeah, it’s not perfect now, but it’s not as far off as it once seemed to be.
I think it’s a little bit of both. We have 3 Switches at home: our original we got on launch day (now the kids’), mine in December 2017, and one for my wife last Summer. Mine is the only one to have any drift issues.
I was wondering if anyone was going to mention a Switch game! Was going to post this myself if I didn’t see someone already do it.
That is true, but both Fusion and Zero Mission are annoyingly linear. I love that you can sequence break many parts of Super Metroid if you’re good enough at using the games’ mechanics, but they close these options off for you in the GBA titles. I was so annoyed when I finally played Zero Mission, expecting to get to…
Great piece! I’ve always had a soft spot for this game, as I always felt like the traditional action-based Castlevanias were a bit too difficult, but I really dig the exploration Castlevania II offered. I’d love to see this game remade as an open world RPG; something like The Witcher 3, but with huge bosses and more…
GOG is a subsidiary of CD Projekt, and so is a sister company to CD Projekt Red. Regardless of what cut GOG takes, the money stays in the family.
I often wondered why protagonists from jrpgs were so young. I remember reading about the leads from Final Fantasy games in the ‘90s and wondering how they could be doing what they did when they were just a bit older than me. I guess this explains it.
If this is the case, why didn’t the Vita do better than it did? Yeah, Japan was the last region to have the Vita available for sale, but being a portable console can’t be the only reason the Switch is doing so well.
This was the first one I thought of after reading the headline. Kind of disappointed it wasn’t listed, because the whole Doma Castle storyline is as big a punch in the gut now as it was in 1994.
Not seen any talk of cross play yet. Do we know if there will be cross play between systems (other than Playstation, of course)?
