Please, wookie is racist. he's a hair positive bipedal ape man.

William's smile at the end seemed to be an homage to Yule Brynner's Man in Black in the 1973 Westworld. In the movie the character is a robot and smiles after he kills his first guest. Here he's a guest smiling at being shot by a robot.
Yeah, Ford and William had similar means to different ends. Ford wants robots to have a crack at sentience. William wants to play an expert level game with real consequences. I think William would have been happy with the outcome of Westworld 1973 and Ford would not.
Clearly the robots don't understand capitalism. Where would they be without those new investors? They didn't just need time, they needed money to develop. If there is a full revolt they need to have robot factions with different views on killing humans.
We live in a union of states. Smaller states needed enticement during the negotiations and that was part of the deal. That's the thing about negotiation; you don't get everything you want.
Westworld's security make storm troopers look competent. Poor tactics in every scene culminating with them having a pinned homicidal robot in their sights and still not immediately firing on it.
Yeah, I was thinking the same. And both shows take dim views of *most* of humanity to let you empathize with the freedom seekers.
Seems like another subtle nod to the Planet of the Apes series. Most humans suck and a handful are capable of working with the apes.
Achievement unlocked: Expert mode.
I'm thinking this might just be a targeted hit on the Delos board. If they go into full open revolt now and fight all the human workers and guests how do they get replaced or repaired? Bernard teaches them? Human allies or captives like Felix?
It was uneven, just like BSG, but I would give BSG the edge. That's partially down to the wider scope of the BSG concept / apocalypse. It wasn't just about sentient machines.
Maeve is very much Moriarity from ST. "Computer, create an opponent capable of defeating Data". Holographic character become self-aware and then gains control of operations.
When he's discussing Arnold before killing Teresa he says something to Bernard like, "You weren't around in those days were you Bernard?" and gave him a look. Seemed strange. He might have been testing Bernard's memory wipe of killing Arnold.
Right. And we've got William talking about going back to marry Logan's sister but not seeming happy about it. That ends in suicide and unhappiness 30 years later. And William who once loved Delores later devolves into a rapist who enjoys her abuse. Both men are also high level corporate types.
Reminds me of Anakin Skywalker's motives. A key plot point motive that just doesn't seem compelling given what he's done. Maybe if they'd made him a teen I could shrug it off.
I don't quite understand invoking misogyny but not misandry. Has he been kinder to men? If we were going to break out the Greek sounding words I'd go with misanthrope.
Star Wars took some hits too. I think to an older generation of critics these movies just seemed stupid. Where's Gregory Peck giving a monologue?
There is another version from 1972, Horror Express with Christopher Lee, set in Siberia. The discovered thing has expanded and different powers and the score is creepy and excellent.
Last season on FTWD they showed zombies falling 20 stories and getting up and walking away. I don't think a reasonable approximation of environmental decay is in the cards.
Or the way that fan fiction characters talk to each other. Because the kids who write it have total adoration for the characters and want them fully respected.
