I found this to be an unexpectedly emotional episode. I'm going to miss Churchill(sniff). It was sad to watch his lifeless hulking body drop. And Pottinger's sadness for letting the bioman take on the Gulanee made me hate him less.

Yep after last weeks thrill ride, it seems like for this episode the writers decided to take a break, or maybe they went overboard with the fast pacing and lost control.
I thought the explanation about how those people from the past somehow infected the implants was really insufficient. That was some really sloppy writing.
This show does seem to lack emotional intensity. Extant's default tone has a kind of Spielberg-like polite pleasantness that borders on fakey (see Jurassic Park 1). But hey, all the white colored decor means that in the future Apple-chic wins out.
I watched maybe 4 episodes of MOS and for whatever reason found it to be interesting, but not compelling must see TV. There seemed to be a predictable set piece quality to it and for me at least, the show has too many episodes to get through for it to really get good.
But there was plenty of Julie Benz side-boob during that romp with Nolan.
She also looks a lot like Nana Visitor(with her hair in the beret), the actress who played Kira Nerys in Deep Space Nine.
(Spoilers)After watching this, it felt like the best episode yet. While watching it, this installment seemed to keep me off balance. For one thing, I thought that the way they presented this episode's theme of sexual abuse to be well done. When Pottinger was beginning his story, I thought it would about some…
The reason we are drawn to sex and violence on this show is because they are the not so pale doubles for life and death. The more graphically they are portrayed, the more compelling they are to the viewers. It taps into our basic fixation with these concepts.
Simcoe seems a bit brighter than the major when he sees that Abe is prosecuting Tallmadge in a way that is getting the villagers' sympathy. "If the musket ball does not fit, you must acquit!" Shades of the OJ trial. I don't understand why the major is'nt aware of Abe's friendship with the Tallmadges, or maybe…
Looks like a lot of stuff hitting the fan next week. It seems like the writers have chucked some of the stories they've been developing in favor of getting a quick bang. Although probably not as good as the bangs Abe has been getting. Will we see more of Rogers? Andre? I think Ben and Caleb are two of the more…
When Floki admitted that he's just a fool, these days we'd call him a comedy genius, or even a wise man(like John Stewart). A great fool/comedian is funny because he cuts right to the heart of the matter and can see the absurdity of it which is why Floki is hilarious.
Some time ago I posted in another blog (maybe it was Torchwood related) that Burn Gorman struck me as the sort of Englishman that we Americans would want to shoot at if we were still fighting the Revolutionary War. I'm really amused that he actually got cast as one in this show! I have it on DVR and I just need to…
On more point. I thought there was some insightful social commentary in that Afro-Americans/racial minorities are/were treated like outcasts so much that even a vampire would sympathize with them. Or that these groups were treated as badly as if they were vampires. You can find the quote by Dracula when he first…
In a strange way, I think Dracula uses Renfield as a kind of reverse Tom Hagen. Don Corleone used Tom as a representative to maneuver in WASP society and make the establishment more comfortable. Dracula uses Renfield to make the English feel totally uncomfortable in how Renfield turns the Victorian social order…
Network TV is still TV. I think that since the Sopranos aired, the bar for quality television has been raised. If a large audience is watching a show on a paid channel, a network executive from FOX/ABC/CBS/NBC is going to find a way to up his network's game to re-capture some of those viewers, which I believe is…
I'm amused every time someone says John's name. As an avid tennis player, I know that Kennex was a popular brand of Tennis equipment back when I was in High School. The founder of Kennex named his company after John F Kennedy, so the fact that John's full name is John Kennex seems even more goofy.
