i actually think there’s something kind of charming there...
“You may be upset because you know too much.”
Also, I’ve got an advanced degree in a wordy subject and work with words, like, you know, professionally, in a writing and editing capacity you might say, (my paychecks sure do!) AND I’ve read a silly amount of EU Star Wars novels and comics, and I didn’t understand what the Resistance was resisting or why they were…
Just wait, he’ll figure all that out reading the crawl from Ep 8.
It’s not that it’s difficult — it’s that it’s stupid.
it’s terrifying and you’ll hate it
Ya, but it’s the South Bay.
“and is real good at playing with his feet”
Yeah. I guess so. Culturally though, it’s far, far from “The Valley,” and seems pretty tied to the Bay Area. I was born in Visalia, and I had never even heard of Davis until I moved to the Central Coast.
Fifteen years or so ago, I lived in San Diego for about six months. When I moved back home to San Luis Obispo, I couldn’t BELIEVE how cold it was. You know, an hour north of Santa Barbara. My SF-living self laughs at my pansy SLO-ass now.
Ya, but 49 degrees in the Bay Area is like 15 degrees back east. I can’t explain it, but it’s true somehow.
Huh. I’ve never thought of Davis as being in the capital-V Valley. It’s always seemed more Bay Area to me.
Or just make less money. The insurance companies will still make millions if they don’t raise premiums. We legally have to have insurance — it’s bullshit that ins. companies can just decide they want to raise rates to maintain profitability.
everything about anyone talking about the snowpocalypse is annoying to those of us living in actual civilization (the West Coast).
The guy second from the left is an a country/rock band. I know because when I was bartending, people always showed me pictures of him on their phone to show me how much I look like him. EAch and every time they’d bust out a pic of the guy, I’d be confused about why these people had a picture of ME on their phone. It’s…
A better response to: “Social Scientists really need to get over themselves. They’ve erected an extremely shaky “scientific” framework onto what is really just a wing of the Humanities,” would be an actual refutation of that claim, not silencing me. And in anticipation of your rebuttal, a humanist could easily have…
I just took the time to reread your comments. Why would you dismiss the rest of my comments? How does that add to the discussion? What are you afraid of? So I think the social sciences are often ridiculous. How is that viewpoint any less valid than yours? Silencing a little playful dissent is not a good look.
Because the makers of Episode 8 wanna really take their time copying the plot of Empire Strikes Back. They wanna get this one juuuust right.
The story about the Native American cave art is spellbinding. Oh, and the animals attacking people? Genius.
