This all damn day. Doja sent an unsolicited DM to a teen asking for help hooking up with his co-worker. Dude. This is the problem. Also, it’s 2022 and she’s still out here assuming that internet messages are private. This is the embodiment of “play stupid games, win stupid prizes.”  

Feels like this is stretching the word to meaninglessness.

This was an abuse of power and gross misconduct, but this was not grooming. Everyone involved was an adult at the time. Grooming, by definition, is something an adult does to a minor. Stop infantalizing yourselves.

It shouldn’t have taken this but when someone on Twitter asked “what if it had been Wanda Sykes who made the joke, would that have changed your reaction?” it gave me pause, Smith should have been ejected at the very least.

I’ve heard so much “Don’t run your mouth and you won’t get hit.” in defense of Smith, which is uhhh... Definitely big “I love you so much, but you know what happens when you make me mad, baby” energy.

The fuck he did. It was a joke. Not a good one, but there was no ill intent. I highly doubt he knew about her condition. I sure didn’t, and I read this stupid website every day.

Seriously. His behaviour was the very definition of toxic masculinity (something this site supposedly deplores?). You can defend your loved one without resorting to violence.

It was a shitty joke and in very poor taste; but Will’s reaction wasn’t acceptable either. Will could have taken the mic from Chris and turned this into a teachable moment by talking about how many people suffer in silence, praised his wife for speaking publicly about her challenges and helping to de-stigmatize…
