I would argue that he was one of the five best hitters in baseball overall last year, and certainly the strongest clubhouse/dugout presence in baseball last year. (I understand the latter claim is impossible for me to truly know, but I believe in this case that I’m probably right nonetheless).

I think that was more because of how beloved Pearl was at Tennessee. None of the fans were happy about how that went down and took it out on Cuonzo. Not saying some of it wasn’t racially motivated, but I feel it would have happened to whoever followed Pearl.
