What got me about the article is how many times the AAF (and upcoming PPL, FFL, and XFLv2) were certain the NFL would embrace them as a development league. If the NFL wanted a development league, there would be a development league. Hell, there WAS a development league (NFLE) and it got shut down because they didn’t

30 for 30: The AAF: Chuck Ebersol’s Thwarted Dream, Produced by Chuck Ebersol

[strains neck due to size of head]

This is the correct take. The Warriors looked to be running out of steam in previous rounds. Their core players essentially added a sixth season’s worth of games in the process of their last five playoff runs. The Clippers and a completely dysfunctional Rockets team both took them to six games. There are no asterisks.

All the same, nice to see Michael Chiklis can still get work.

Lesson here is to never question the St. Louis Post-Dispatch’s ability to see into the future.

Seeing lots of “I’m a Yankees fan, but...” and “I hate the Red Sox, but...” on the internet tonight. Cool, man, you don’t want the human beings who arbitrarily wind up playing for teams in a different geographic location than you to literally die. Awesome, that’s very noble.

Increasing pay won’t work. Mark Sanchez received millions for qbing and I don’t think that affected is inability to throw the ball to people with green jerseys. Besides, I don’t think there is a glut of SUPERIOR refs and umps out there waiting to quit their jobs once the pay jumps.

To me, it’s simple. Play well enough that the refs can’t possibly fuck it up for you.

The Bruins scored ONE goal last night. That’s why they lost, not a referee swallowing his whistle.

I don’t see any reason to constantly bitch about this. Bad/blown calls are just a human part of sport. I’ll compare this to the totally blown pass interference call in the Saints/Rams game. Yes it was a god awful call and it for sure played into how that game ended and was played from that point on. But you can’t

Don’t even say it. Video review is a fucking pox on sports right now

Happy coach calls for a pass 1st and goal on the one w/maximum Lynch in the backfield.

Just make it Deadspin’s version of The Onion’s mass shooting article

Russia should just make a series called Flint.

Health is a matter of luck, but there are aspects of health that a team can control.

I’m not advocating from an American-centric POV. I think it would have been better to be filmed in Russian with English accents.

Yeah, this. In actual fact, someone speaking Russian as a native language doesn’t HAVE a ‘Russian accent’ as imagined by the west. They have that ‘Russian accent’ when they’re Russians speaking english.

That happens a few times in this series too. I can forgive the Russian-language news broadcasts because authenticity there lends some verisimilitude to the series. However, the evacuation orders being played over the loudspeakers in Russian is a little jarring.

That’sa Canadian average, which is only like 25% in the USA.
