As someone who has lived in an Amish area, I would not say that anyone’s general perception is that they are “nice”.

I feel like there is a lot of pressure on them to come across amicable because the crazy fans attack and threaten them when they aren’t perfectly peachy with their favorite queen. Truth. And even just in government in general there are a lot of conservatives; I would even say MOST federal employees lean heavily right. Imagine a bunch of more malicious Ron Swanson’s without the progressive social policies trying to make government less efficient/effective.

Most Trump supporters don’t consider government jobs legitimate. They’ll just see it as saving them tax dollars because to them government pensions are a scam.

I know gerrymandering is a universal issue but if it makes you feel marginally better Pennsylvania sued to redraw it’s districts and it’s actually happening. The GOP has of course fought it the whole way but we’ll have more even districts for our state primaries and elections this year, excluding this special…
