Sounds like somebody should just buy a new ThinkPad. As long as you stick with the actual ThinkPads and stay away from the Lenovo designed IdeaPads they're just as durable as your old T43. I have a 7 year old T42 that still mostly works, a T500 that's pretty much replaced the T42 and a T400 from work.

So they tested this by putting cell phones .5cm under the rats' cages. Good thing I don't carry my phone in my underwear.
