Rechargable batteries do degrade over time but that applies to the internal ones too. The difference is with AAs you can dispose of the old ones and buy some more. With the internal batteries if they do wear out you’re going need a new controller or try to replace it yourself.

I wish a lot things had removable batteries, like my cell phone, and my laptop I had to do open heart surgery on just to get rid of a failing battery.

Well thank goodness for that deal. My AA rechargeables last wayyy longer than my DS4 internal battery, and when they run out they can be easily swapped rather than having to find a super long cable or suspend gaming while I charge the controller.

Before any silly suggestions get made, batteries are much cheaper…
