I invite anyone who feels like they’ve had something “taken away” from them by The Doctor no longer being a bloke to watch any of the other over 700* episodes still available with a male doctor in, they do still exist.

Even if those who oppose having a female Doctor aren’t misogynist as they claim (they are), I don’t know if having such shitty capacity for imagination about your favorite speculative fiction is much better.
If your worldview is threatened by a work of fiction, what does that say about your worldview?
The tendency in some humans to assume that empathy for animals can only come at the expense of empathy toward other humans is annoying as fuck.
A someone just said on t’radio “We’ve had women doctors in hospitals for over 100 years...”.
Counterpoint: A huge number of humans are spiteful, malicious assholes, villainous and murderous. The same can not be said about the rest of the animal kingdom.
Does that really surprise you?
Why? They find the innocence and purity of the animals more deserving of life than the types of people they generally don’t care about living. I think you’ll find the level of empathy people generally have for infants and children to be more or less on par as that of these animals due to those very same reasons.
It’s disturbing that some mammals think they are better than others.

The tendency to label things “lesser” is the root of your issue with the human condition.
The tendency of humans to quantify other species as ‘lesser’ is disturbing.
It’s rather expected of a human to take some measure of control in their lives, and their misfortune carries this tacit acknowledgement that it’s of their own doing and/or they have to capacity to fix it.
The real problem here is thinking humans are higher animals (from an over inflated ego standpoint)... and that narcissistic view tends to breed contempt in place of empathy. Kinda makes use the lesser species really.
What about this story indicates that people aren’t able to empathize with other humans, or empathize with animals more than other humans? Being sad that a baby giraffe died doesn’t mean that you care about that giraffe more than other people. Nothing in the story supports that idea.
Doctor Who rarely does big character arcs. By its very nature it’s a transitory program: every week a new adventure,…
