In New York state there is a living library of apple trees, an orchard with all known apple varieties. Apples are fascinating. The best book about apples and for many other reasons is entitled, “The Botany of Desire”. So much in it I learned and before reading I didn’t even know I cared about the topic.

This. Proud to say I have a cox’s orange pippin, winesap, and a northern spy growing in my backyard.

I wish I was an Apple Detective.

New England Jezzies - this place has some excellent, lesser-known apple varieties: Poverty Lane Orchards

I was thinking yesterday somehow they should do a short “John Wick vs Hit Girl”. Now I am thinking “John Wick vs Atomic Blonde” or have all three in a “The Good, The Bad and the Ugly” type setup, just no real bad guys in it but all have to go face to face to face to get what they need done.

They clearly weren’t trying to kill her. Probably trying to capture her and take her in, most likely.

Deadpool is awesome.

The running commentary is exactly what I loved. But then again, as a reader of Deadpool comics growing up, it was pretty much exactly what a Deadpool movie is supposed to be like. If you’re not familiar with the character, I can see how the movie might be..... odd lol

He had nothing to do with Deadpool.

Also worthy of note, black children wearing hoodies and carrying skittles are murdered. Clean-cut white serial killers get second chances at schools.

True story: I had a boyfriend years ago who was a low-level weed dealer, and one day a customer brought a friend over to our apartment to hang out (and pick up, natch). After a while, the new guy starts saying how cool and open minded we seem and would we be okay with him bringing another friend of his by, because

Right?! She could plant trees in a park, pick up litter on a highway, donate to charities for victims of sexual assault and so on

I’m a teacher and a parent and I’m just stunned that the administration didn’t foresee a problem here.

It seems like the school was aware of her history somehow, either a background check or she voluntarily told them, since the school’s response to this being publicly addressed was basically yeah she’s here but the kids are never alone with her. Though when she volunteered they should have just said thanks but no

Someone who would do what she did is so profoundly “disturbed” that I can’t see her ever being a safe companion, especially for children and teens. There is no excuse for allowing her to be with these children. Their safety is far more important than any rationale based on her “redemption.”

I’ve never believed for a minute that Karla Homolka was Paul Bernado’s victim. She was an active participant and even helped him rape and accidentally kill her own sister. I would immediately remove my kid from that school if I was a parent.

IDK if it’s because it’s a private school, but in the public school system in Québec a parent must have a police background check before volunteering.

“It’s not right.”as one parent said... I wonder if that’s a politically correct way to contain their rage. I would be beyond livid if I was a parent there considering how livid I am reading about this story.
