Ugh, the ‘meritocracy’ mentality happening to kids. I felt that way too, like there was something to be ashamed of when there wasn’t.

I had a couple of ponies growing up and we were super poor. But tbh that was in Montana, where horses just kind of happen to people.

I think it takes a long time to really understand and some people never do. We were very poor growing up but my mother hid it, like if we could only afford bread for dinner let’s make it a game, we’ll pretend it’s pizza.

Even besides the fact that young teens are not mentally or emotionally able to consent, who looks at a 13 year old and thinks, “yup, sexually mature!” I’m 31, and even the most physically developed 13 year olds look like babies to me.
