Safety is the biggest reason it’s not open spec, but I think there should be a minimum safety requirement for the cars that are entering. That makes is so someone can’t get themselves killed in a self-designed car with a low budget.

Paul wasn’t driving the car he was in, so there was almost nothing he could do.

It is considered one of the worst accidents of all time.
