This happened at my 30,000 person university, and at the time I had banner notifications on my iphone. It was basically unusable for hours until I managed to restart it, put it in airplane mode before it connected to the wifi, and turned the notifications off.

Can we please please have more stories like this and less of the celebrity fluff on Jezebel in the future? I love a bit of celebrity fluff every now and then, but I feel like there’s so many fascinating stories about women to highlight that don’t get enough press, and Jezebel is the perfect place for them!

I was in high school as recently as 2012, and I don’t think over-specialisation is the issue at all. Quite the opposite: no standardised curriculum and a ‘bit of everything’ approach means that no class ever built upon a previous one, and everything was extremely superficial.

I get stressed out by difficult-to-eat food (especially in public), not even when high. I’m a really clumsy person with a really small mouth and it just goes badly.

“Colombians burning effigies of he...”

I’m a bit confused- are these all films he’s produced/directed, or does it include ones he’s starred in? He probably doesn’t get to cast a film just because he appears in it, does he?

If you *can* find a job here, salaries do pay better than a lot of cheaper cities- not enough to make up for the rent completely, but combined with the plethora of free and cheap entertainment (museums, up and coming clubs for £1, free lectures, public green spaces) you can live comfortably enough! If you’re a student

I’m paying $1500/month for a tiny studio, everything in one room, not even a full-sized bed, no oven, no dishwasher, no tub. Plus $150/month for public transport. But that’s London!

I have officially banned myself from attempting stir frys until I move out of my shitty little apartment with its shitty little two induction burners and no oven. It cramps my cooking game so bad.

I had a big cooking week! Did a few grain-bowl sort of things: avocado, kale, fish, pickled radishes layered on type of rice, in a few different variations. Today I spent hours on a chicken stew with olives, artichokes, mushrooms, and cider sauce that came out delicious, but possibly wasn’t worth the effort-

Please don’t let that put you off London! I promise it’s a lot more left-leaning and accepting of political activism than pretty much anywhere in the US. Just be prepared to spend 98% of your income on rent.

Eh, I dunno, I’ve got some super-warm thermal tights that are warmer than trousers. I accept she probably wasn’t wearing those; I’m just saying, I think everyone is focusing way too much on the ‘shorts in winter omg’ aspect and less on the fact that she probably just forgot her coat.

Lol at all of the people rushing to correct you- just because she was making a joke doesn’t mean it was a funny or clever one...

To be fair I think she was wearing shorts and tights- I could imagine wearing that to a party with a sweater and a long coat on top. As I said in a different reply, maybe she had a big long coat that she just didn’t pick up when she stormed out in an angry huff?

But maybe she wore a long warm coat to the party and stormed out in a rage without picking it up. That seems likelier than her going out for the whole night without a jacket.

I think you should write this book stat, because it sounds poignant and beautiful.

I am baffled by the amount of love that lip tars get. I bought two, mainly because Willam said I should, and...they just don’t seem like great quality! The colours are lovely, but they don’t go on evenly and they wipe off in no time- basically like lip gloss. Am I missing something?

A lot of their stuff may skew a bit juvenile, but ASOS has a massive selection, lets you filter by price, colour, etc., and has free and easy returns if you don’t like something. So I’d recommend order a ton of dresses there and returning the ones you don’t like!

I used Rent the Runway for prom and it was great- they send multiple sizes so fit wasn’t an issue, and I wore a Bagdley Mishka gown that was a dream come true. However, it was worth the $100 rental because I knew I would never wear a prom dress again, and didn’t want to pay $300 like my peers did and get a worse

Yas this better be a weekly thread! I bought a ton of new stuff in December because I was sad and makeup fills the dark void that exists in place of my soul. Erm, opinions:
