I’m glad to see the emphasis on atonement. One of the lowest common denominator responses is a sincere apology. And that sincerity is measured by atonement.

I am still strongly of the opinion that Kendrick Lamar’s Black Panther album is not good, All the Stars being the big exception. Like it makes me kind of mad that it’s as annoying as it is. The score is really good though.

I think it’ll be between If Beale Street Could Talk and A Star is Born with the former probably being the better movie and the latter having more universal appeal.

FYI, Ludwig Goransson is nominated for Best Score for Black Panther. All the Stars is nominated for Best Song.

The whole thing is insane (same for what’s happening in NC, OH, and MI). Just an incredible waste of time and resources so legislators can be hypocritical crybabies.

Probably. At massive taxpayer cost not to mention it being a colossal waste of government time. Just another example of how disgusting this whole thing is.

You probably should be. My discretion is better these days thankfully.

He’s way too thirsty. It’s creepy.

That would be too much like right though.

I don’t mind people doing whatever’s relaxing for them...as long as it’s not inconveniencing other people. I don’t care if people want to listen to their music or talk on the phone, just do it at a respectful volume that doesn’t disturb others. It’s not even really cost-prohibitive anymore to have a cheap set of

Often it’s parents playing movies and such for their kids. I’m actually really sympathetic to how hard it is to fly with kids, but I have no time for that disrespect.

For sure, if only to capture my foolishness as a teachable moment. Safety first.

I’ve given that “talk” before, often as a warning to dudes who were harassing me.

There are ways to deal with this—often having designated people taking the lead in finding and communicating new platforms. But we can be respectful by acknowledging how difficult a process it is rather than minimizing people’s stress and sadness over the fact that it’s necessary in the first place.

I don’t think you’re taking into account how third party platforms work which is why this suggestion isn’t that helpful. Part of being mindful of how online communities stay engaged is having this knowledge and respect for the real-world user experiences of your members.

It doesn’t speak to the strength of an online community at all. There are very real and prohibitive logistical challenges to switching platforms (having been a moderator of several online communities that have done such a switch).

I can’t remember what article this came up in recently, but I remember commenting about what I’ve done when that happens. If someone is monopolizing a conversation, I hold up a finger and say “Hold that thought. I just want to make this point before I forget.” And if it’s a group setting where others are getting

For instance, I’m always irate at people who play their music out loud on the subway,

True. They have a history of very, very problematic and tone deaf propaganda. I remember walking by a demonstration against the national dog show maybe 10 or so years ago where they were wearing Klan robes to make their point. I was appalled and told them about themselves for it. If they think it’s okay to terrorize

I hope The Walking Dead is willing to shell out some serious money to keep Danai Gurira because she continues to be so deservedly high profile.
