I get this argument, but I’m not sure where it gets you. Based on this logic, you really have to take it all the way there—eating animals, wearing animals, making animals work for us, ruining their habitats.

That’s the revised list from SB 5 that went into effect this year after extensive litigation found that the original voter ID legislation requirements (significantly more restrictive) were discriminatory and a violation of the Voting Rights Act. And that was most remarkably ruled on by the conservative 5th Circuit.

I have zero interest in this movie (b/c as noted, soooo white and that spelling of “Mamma” is only legitimate in Sweden), but I like reading ridiculous chat conversations. I’m glad I made it far enough for this truth gem to shine.

I’m okay not having Salt-N-Pepa because I feel satisfied with both their Behind the Music and reality show. But JJ Fad I would watch the hell out of. Also, I’d add P.M. Dawn, just because I want a few questions answered. Living Colour too.

Right. Who’s ignoring them? Is adding seats to the table ignoring? That’s some supremacist nonsense.

I think the problem now that’s different than before is that whatever era of politics, opposing positions were based on fundamental values that people understood but just disagreed on. Trump supporters probably have more problems because the fundamental values they support are so controversial and unhinged, even to

I didn’t think coming to the heart of the nation’s capital would be like this, but it’s a reality these days.”

Part of the reason for pushback on this is that your discussion on voter turnout doesn’t acknowledge the more problematic impact of voter suppression. The type of education you’re talking about from high profile validators isn’t going to have as much meaningful impact because that’s not the primary driver on voter

I actually had no idea there was a big ‘no straw’ campaign (I’ve used metal ones for years to lower plastic usage, but mostly for convenience). It seems like a good use of effort isn’t to thwart the campaign necessarily, but find better ways to use that hook to raise awareness/advocacy around the bigger threats.

Well, I don’t have kids or a dog, so no problem.

Or a function of the industry you’re in as well.

Paying interns is becoming the norm in other fields. It’s common place in the legal field now as well as many non-profits—they’ll call them fellows or admins sometimes. It’s way better than it used to be. I remember at least until the mid-2000s, the San Francisco Public Defender expected first-year misdemeanor attor

That’s a huge reason why the Oregon senators withheld their blue slips (the fact that Bounds got this far given that should be as big of an outrage). He didn’t even disclose those writings when required during the vetting process. Those skeletons had to be dug up.

Some places do. California, Texas, Virginia I think, maybe Illinois, but I forget. It’s just as common not to. A lot of the east coast states like Maryland, New York, DC, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina I believe all just categorize it as assault (this just happens to be some law nerdery I had to research for work

I’m similar, except I use unsalted butter for any cooking or baking and unsalted (Kerrygold FTW) on toast or other items of that nature. I’ve noticed that anything other than Kerrygold is way too salty for me, and that makes me grumpy.

Caveat: unless you live in a hot climate. That butter would be a pile of liquid in my apartment in half a day.

I appreciate the common law clarity. I’ll also note that in many jurisdictions (including two of the ones in which I’ve practiced), assault and battery are combined—everything is an assault, just one subsection/degree is a misdemeanor and another is a felony.

“That’s assault, you know that’s assault right, Robert?” a voice behind the camera can be heard saying.

That’s not feasible as a policy standard for a major transit organization in a city like NYC. The reason you have any restrictive rule (or law) is often because the bad actors have made it logistically and economically more attractive. That’s why there is similar rulemaking about bikes and strollers.

They don’t have an outright ban. Pets are allowed if they’re in a carrier.
