That was my thought, too. Overcharging is a huge problem, but it’s odd not to have a back up plan. So not only was it overcharging, it was bad overcharging.

Actually, manslaughter is more commonly known as the “crime of passion” charge. Second degree murder is often reserved for depraved indifference type homicides.

Definitely in most states that’s in their charging structure. Manslaughter sometimes isn’t a lesser included of first degree murder. It depends on the elements of the offense.

My mom couldn’t stand pumpkin pie in favor of sweet potato. But honestly, I can’t really tell the difference between the two because the flavor profile is so similar. That said, I almost exclusively make/eat sweet potato pie. I was so shocked and sad for people that had never heard of it.

Ugh. The courts routinely feign lack of clear understanding if it means they have to robustly follow constitutional conventions in the favor of a defendant. This isn’t the best invocation of the right, but its an invocation of the right that triggers getting the dude a lawyer.

They won’t if they’re not crafted by people who understand how policymaking operates with and accounts for institutional oppression and how to ensure that their ideas accurately address this. Otherwise, no, they absolutely will not actually help marginalized communities and our history has shown that. Sanders is

So true. Bed budges DGAF. Anybody can get them.

Most importantly, it’s fun as hell.

Sure, the blackness for which the city is known is still present symbolically, but ain’t nothin’ but white folks at the Brixton, living in the Ellington and hangin’ at Marvin on every other day but Monday and any day in which Rock Creek Social Club isn’t doing an event.

Yes! For all of those social justice movements, we challenge everyone, especially those that embody the supremacist culture, to express their empathy. And for each successive movement, we do make progress in getting more and more people to do so. But McArdle’s argument is counter to those efforts as if equality can be

This is such a powerful response. Ugh, basically, her argument boils down to saying that white people aren’t capable of empathy so we have to make sure everything is catered to their comfort. I refuse to agree to that pathetic bar because I don’t and can’t believe that’s true. Its insulting to white

That’s adorable. I think Tracy from Another Round talked about that same anxiety on an episode when she had her DNA tested. That stress is real.

Maple and brown sugar cream of wheat is utter garbage. The only acceptable maple and brown sugar concoctions are in the pop tart and Nature’s Path Maple Nut oatmeal. Both delicious in different ways.

What sad news. Robert Guillaume was the real deal.

Great piece, with lots of good food for thought. But this is the crux of it for me:

Or what about this... in this day of females men standing up for themselves humanity, they could stop using, and I quote, “not-so subtle signals,” and say, “I’m I understand that you’re not interested. Sorry if I came on too strong. Have a good night.” Crazy! Just imagine, a world in which women say what they mean r

From the article, it seems that the text function works pretty quickly. And the phone message works as quickly as if they would have called the person and gotten the message directly. So it seems a good compromise in terms of balancing safety and expediency.

I think it’s a good rule of thumb. My exceptions are for when I need to brainstorm about setting or priorities or substantive project planning. I do not set an agenda, but will set an objective. Sharing an agenda is just a waste of time because you want people to deviate (but that also requires a good

It’s disgusting. The open hypocrisy and disdain for rigorous constitutional integrity here in the name of pushing a conservative agenda is extraordinary. It’s yet another truly anti-democracy power play that all of America will suffer under.

I do hear about it, which is how I know that compromise legislation is rare both at the federal and local level. Youth education is great and I think gun proponents are good on that. Longer sentences for violent offenders isn’t effective and isn’t a very persuasive argument anymore from a cost, safety, or deterrence
