The Pronger thing for me is more along the lines of Homer/Snider thought paying a 42 year old Defensemen $4.94 million was a good idea. Contracts are idiotic. the point being Flyers offered them way too much money as well and had to unload them because $5 million isn't suitable for your 3rd line defensemen. Flyers defense costs somewhere more than $6 million more than the Rangers without Pronger's dead money...certainly looks that way on the ice.
