It’s good that it’s being reported on, but I don’t get what Raphael was expecting. What, in his mind, should Ford have done? Piss off almost half the U.S.? Raphael comes off like a dumbass with this post.

You got a link for the truck numbers? As far as I know, the F150 still outsells all other trucks. Are you combining GMC and Chevy?

Does autopilot work in snow, or heavy rain, or areas where construction has screwed with lanes? It doesn’t. It only works on highways with clearly marked lanes in good weather. Now which environment do you think crashes are more likely to occur per mile driven?

Exactly, everyone needs to take one for the team. How else is this poor billionaire going to make more money?

Well, it was a test with a $200 million satellite that was blown to bits. Not really the same as a motor breaking in a lab.

For point 2, features do not equal quality. You can put a ton of features into a car, but if it requires frequent repairs and has issues with things like gaps, it has quality issues.

Comparing Ferrari to Tesla is apples to oranges. A Ferrari starts at around $200,000 and has intentional limited production. That would be like comparing it to the Camry, which has more annual sales than twice the total number of Tesla sales ever.

Yes, setting a nigh-impossible goal of producing 80,000 vehicles in a year. How brave of him.

So basically, there’s nothing special about the autopilot system other than the name? It’s just a standard level 2 system?

No need to be obtuse. If the crash is caused by a manufacturer’s part failing, then yeah, they probably should make that info available.

In that case, is there any way the car could crash and it would be the system’s fault? The whole “driver needs to be ready to take over” argument pretty much means the system can never be at fault, right?

I wouldn’t say they’ve had fewer quality issues. Their build issues are still a huge knock against them.

Would you like to name some of those vehicles with terrible build quality?

Yet, Tesla puts out cars that malfunction frequently and have the build quality of a car from the 70's. Maybe he needs to move some of the SpaceX people over to Tesla.

Have they confirmed that they will still pick up vehicles when the model 3 launches? I’ve got some serious doubts that it will be possible to continue picking up vehicles when the volume on the road increases so much.

It kind of does. The rebates are capped at a certain number(that I can’t remember off the top of my head.) So less higher income people taking rebates leaves room for more lower income people to use them.

Tesla by far if I’m only concerned about the autonomous features. Mercedes S550 by far if we’re talking about the overall vehicle.

The Mercedes can drive around from 20-118 mph.

    Going 24 in a 35 isn’t a good reason?
