They are writing the same old kind of SFF, and the problem is that people are ready for some new styles, characters and stuff. When they get it they gobble it up, because they love the novelty.

Yep! Saw this when I was a teenager but this specific scene paled in comparison to the woman who gets turned into an egg laying machine, webbed up in a shower stall. That did it for me.

She’s a little less like that now. They did show her kickin’ butt in one of the final action scenes although where she picked upo her sword skills is a mystery. But if you miss her earlier whininess, she makes up for it by giving Ephraim the stink eye a few times during the episode.
