Tim Burton: “I want to make a Batman movie that’s a timeless throwback to old serials and gangster movies.”

ironically i don’t think WB would have made The Batman (or Snyder Cut) if they hadn’t made a billion dollars from Joker.

this movie already felt like a sequel to a movie that never existed. and having the Joker already placed in Arkham by Batman just makes it feel even more so like a sequel.

Joker is the polar opposite of Batman (the arch-nemesis). while he’s not *required* to make a Batman story, he’s the cheat code, as having the enemy be the polar opposite of the hero highlights the hero’s attributes. like how something cold feels even colder after you’ve touched something hot.

it’s a shame Val Kilmer solved that in Batman Forever, and that we got a new Riddler without a new Robin. while Batman is the detective, Robin is the puzzle nerd who gets Riddler’s jokes.

first movie to have the balls to portray Batman in costume for 95% of the movie.

that was the twist. right? like the whole movie is Se7en up until the reveal that...

destroy the virus in his blood

“Dad, can we play Star Wars?”

“now THIS is podracing”

they need at least one buffer movie. isn’t Paul Walker coming back in Fast 10?

The Amazing Spider-Man had its moments. the Stan Lee cameo when Spider-Man is fighting the Lizard in the school library is one of my favorite Spider-Man moments across all three franchises.

Tobey: “cure them all. it’s what we do.

Spiderverse; a film that cracked open the idea of what Spiderman is why distilling it down to what makes the character so iconic.

*Batman music intensifies.

so are you saying that there’s a Spider-Man swinging around somewhere during the events of Venom 1 and 2, and Symbiote knows that he’s Peter Parker somehow, but it’s never addressed in the movies, and he looks like TBD, but definitely not like Tom Holland? and for all intents and purposes, he’s a variant (i.e.

wait, who is their Spider-Man? Tobey Maguire (via some multiversal-sensitive knowledge) or a fourth guy (not Holland, Maguire, or Garfield)?

the closest explanation i’ve seen from a random internet commenter is that symbiotes share “multiversal knowledge”, so the symbiote that bonded with Topher Grace’s knowledge that Spider-Man is Peter (Tobey), was shared with the symbiote/Tom Hardy. but pretty dumb.

but they got pulled in, saw Tom Holland on TV, and asked “who is that?”

i still don’t get how Venom/Tom Hardy got pulled into NWH, and not Venom/Topher Grace. is it the same symbiote?
