Disagree on The Favourite. There was more movie there than most of the other nominees. As for “cultural moments,” Blindspotting was pretty good.

As someone who has never been a particular fan of period pieces, I enjoyed The Favourite. It’s darkly funny and there are a lot of good performances. That said, based on the reviews given in the rest of this article, I’d probably recommend you all avoid it like the plague.
