Why do people seem to think that “I made this work” translates to “Everyone can make this work.”

If you live in an apartment, where I’d imagine most poor people live, I’m fairly certain (though I’d have to check) a working stove is a legal requirement. As I’d imagine a working refrigerator and freezer are as well. So that’s a) and b) checked off.

Heh he thinks 50 or 80 hours a week is a lot. Everyone point and laugh

You need to read the story or get a heart.

Black church leaders have always had a problem when they are accepted into the power structure as a way to control the black population.

Between finishing my masters and starting my phd, I worked for a year at the College of Charleston. During my tenure there were literally four black professors (for the entire cofc) and three administrators (including me). When I would tell friends how Charleston was literally the most racist place I had ever lived*,

It isn’t even so much as being honest about racism, it’s about putting your proverbial money where your mouth is.

If you are going to make the case that the confederate flag is somehow not about slavery and the oppression of blacks in the south, then you should have no problem keeping it up there, in fair weather and

It’s not above the state house. It’s in front of it, right next to the monument to confederate soldiers. I’m not defending it, I think it’s ridiculous it’s anywhere near there. But the whole state house is surrounded by monuments to racists. The flag used to be on top with the other 2 flags, but was moved.

No. I've had moments where I was the right weight and it seemed like I was doing what the world wanted of me, and *still* I wasn't content... still that same self disgust lurking nearby.

Denying things that actually happened is called gaslighting, in case you didn't know, and pretty serious emotional abuse in my opinion.

Not talk about it. You can just do the right thing without telling everyone. That's not only for issues of racism, it's also just a general rule. You shouldn't need positive reinforcement for being a decent person. Just be one.

I hope the ghost of Robert Culp haunts the shit out of Bill Cosby.

"Based on this Chicago Tribune article written shortly after his death, Brown was a good guy who was beloved by his teammates. He didn't end up playing pro football, but he did work in the education field, serving as a dean of students and a principal at schools in Washington D.C. and Cleveland. He and his brother
