I was calling out bad journalism, not defending Uber. They should not have to resort to these kind of tactics to prove Uber is bad.

Ahhh...The old ‘but you don’t have evidence, while not providing evidence either,’ argument.

This isn’t how you conduct a study to come up with legitimate results. Others have mentioned confirmation bias of your statement, and it’s completely true. Here’s a free idea for you: “Our initial data says this, but we need to collect more data to see if that is really true or not”.

This war against Uber as the enemy of everything we hold dear is getting tiresome. We get it, Jalopnik is pro union and anti-corporate.

No and that’s my fear:  They can’t keep floating on VC funding or whatever but man every single Lyft ride I’ve taken has been far superior to every single taxi ride I’ve ever taken, it’d really suck to have to go back to taxis.

Nailed it. “Help me prove my opinion is right!” is a great way to start a data study.

These changes to surge pricing is just the latest example of the ride-hail giants—worth a combined $90 billion on the stock market as of this writing unilaterally changing their pricing structures, a practice that underscores the inequities in the industry

his recent comments to the U.K.’s Daily Star, in which he laments “generation snowflake,” were at least partially prompted by the controversy surrounding Hart’s old, homophobic tweets and the fallout of his gig hosting the Oscars.”

You should fine him for making such a poor comment. He probably made some equally poor comments over the years, and deserves a retroactive fine.

Is there like a Worst Comment of The Day that I can nominate the above for?

Bubblewrap, yes. Flipping, I’m not so sure.

It’s not.

They have every right to buy them. And we have every right to block them from the US financial system in return. I fail to see what’s confusing about that.

The problem with automatic transmissions is that the shifter is not part of the normal input system for the car as far as the driver is concerned. It’s more like the headlight switch than the throttle with respect to actually controlling the car. You set it where you want it and leave it there. The driver has no

Had he been a woman or a person of color, there is no way on God’s green earth that he would still be a candidate.”

YES!! I can not believe that he is still a candidate after yesterday. Crying, gnashing, emotional. I don’t want him on the Supreme Court, nor any court. I had to turn off the TV. Had he been a woman or a person of color, there is no way on God’s green earth that he would still be a candidate. It is literally painful —

Yesterday, a good friend of mine said to me almost exactly what you just said. There’s just no way this guy is a good fit for the highest court in the land.

This entire nomination process is just so gross. Leaving aside Ford’s accusations (which I find credible), Kavanaugh showed yesterday that he does not have the temperament or impartiality to serve on any federal court. That in and of itself should be disqualifying. But this is why elections matter. Everyone needs
