As a guy with two kids and a wife I would commute in a Elio. I own a 95 Cobra and a Legacy as my other cars. I would NEVER get a modern VW after all the issues friends and family members have had with various latemodel Golfs and Passats.

I've been someone that has been watching this car/motorcycle closely and I'm not any of the things you describe...I would LOVE to use it as a "commuter" car for going to-and-from work....what's wrong with that?

Next time you drive to work, look into other peoples cars and see if it takes more than one hand to count the ones with more than 2 people in them.
