Somebody should tell Amy Fisher she's a gendered trope.

The word fuck existed before then but was not used the way Geillis used it. Using it as a qualifier/adjective: "you fucking bastard", "fucking barbeque" sounds modern to us because it's only been used that way since the late 18th c.

She quoted Nathan Hale's famous line from the American Revolution: "I regret that I have but one life to give for my country." Not exactly modern times but definitely well after the times they were in. Cool that they used that particular quotation as Claire is always quoting things in the books and she really does say
